I have had time to glance through april 2014 elle magazine, which i bought because of a pattern and colour article. i am fascinated by the present fashion/ interior design trend of using textiles/decor inspired by art. In a recently watched video (?) gerhard richter didn't dismiss the idea that some of his recent patterned work would make good wrapping paper and there are furnishing fabrics around v. similar to his paintings. i'm not sure how i feel about this fusion of art into design; but it's not a new phenomena. as artists do we need to know the latest trends in interior design if home/hotel/corporate space, if this is where we position ourselves for the sale of our work? .... i'm not sure...still thinking about this.

The magazine also had an article 'all about indigo', which reminde me how much i like the colour blue, especially the inky blue/blacks. Some times very dark blue can be far more effective than black, although smokey, sooty blacks are gorgeous and i have some bitumen paint i'm wanting to use. I also enjoy cyanotype images and decided to play with some i've just created.
Thinking this might be something to follow up???? not sure how/where .. but today liking these blue images.... tomorrow i might feel differently. I'm tired today and pressing a lot of wrong buttons. Last night I needed to update my virus protection and it took till 1.30 am with twice needing remote help. It's very weird having someone take over my computer and seeing my cursor moving remotely across my screen and files..... I've tidied up my desktop screen today!! i'm also needing to get everything straight on this page and the above images were very difficult to line up....but i wanted them straight!!
i also think this last info should have gone in a separate blog and not on this page.... but it's done now :) ...don't feel i've done enough on project today :(
