EP WEEK4 day2 (thurs)

Just after 9am and in my studio about to continue looking through photos of allotment huts and don't feel strongly about any particular direction which surprises me.... think i should chose about 5 and work with them? i don't want to go through them all just adjusting with filters? 
..as i'm away next week i need to be finding my questions and images for group crit (les)a week on monday, which i'm looking forward to.
- book as on shaun scully might arrive today :) which will add to my thinking about process of layering.

10.10. this photo made me think of enclosure, intimacy, safety, protection..... - it also reminded me of places i've visited and liked ... a couple of church crypts, NY underground stations, a derelict manor house stable in

scotland.... bird hides perched on edge of cliffs ... a place i used to go in my head when i was little.....ruins...nostalgia...void .... the dereliction also reminded me of bomb sites i played on as i grew up and the shanty towns in peru (2009)
11.15 think maybe should stay with this theme of wrapped around space .... really don't want to get into making large sculptural installations (cost, physically, storage) but maybe some kind of book?? 
                                                    
thought of artist mike nelson, whose work i saw years ago..... gosh the connections and memories that are emerging are interesting.....

and whilst looking at some work of mike nelson, came across work by wilson twins, whose work i didn't know of... have just realised that -blind landing was taken in Orfordness, suffolk where i will be next week....unforunately NT  access is closed :(

These images, along with photos from book 'still life' about huts at south pole, (which i looked at last week ... for first time in ages) are speaking to me and touching me emotionally and i'm wondering why?
13.46 ... just been thinking about anselm kiefer and how much i think i like his work, but i have never seen any , so .. have just ordered his video which i've wanted for several years.

i'm also interested in kiefers idea of book as metaphor and the trasformational power of alchemy.

14.10. ... so much for my plan of not doing research during making time of exploratory project! ...however i feel this diversion has been an important one ... not so much research perhaps as a recollection of memory

17.00 been out for some air and shopping then chose another photo ... looking at those where viewer feels inside hut .... not sure why... or where this is going but will go with it today.

19.00   pushing on looking through photos as it's easter weekend and i'm away next week.
Just read 'voyage through the void: nouveau realisme, the nature of reality, the nature of painting chapter from p212 in 'destroy the picture, painting the void'... i am sure it does make sense, but not today!

trying to be more discerning over choice/limit of filters.
... original in b+w, soft focus and cross processed.... particularly liked cinemascope, left, with black bands and simplification.

this selection seems to be getting darker! ... the ropes don't help by suggesting noose.

definitely getting quicker at processing photos ... just working instinctively with nothing particular in mind ... see what emerges

20.00 My allotment photos seem to divide into categories...

... there is also some lovely texture that would be outside of above reference.

 these are just a selection of photos taken but will leave it at this..... i don't think these photos are going to go away as there's so much information in them.
... textures are another full days work ... at least.
