EP week1 day2

I'm writing this at 13.56, just having  had a light lunch. I'm tired today and woke up feeling dizzy but ok now ... just a tired (went to gym on mon. but not today) I was in studio for 9am, but again not sure where to start, so it was probably nearly 11am when I started creating ... first just chilled and checked out emails, fb, wrote up yesterdays blog and updated to do list which includes writing up tutorial, oca blog, studio photo for saatchi, feedback sheet from Raw college visit emailing in preliminary photos of house for NYOS promo and creating invite for open evening (no wonder i feel tired!)
.... does it matter that i keep to the planning boundaries written for the project.... probably, as otherwise i will go off at any tangent. ...who was the artist who said they just go into the studio and wait for the materials to tell them where to start. (Richter, maybe?). Have been collecting house hold rubbish for project and teabags have dried out so decided to scan them on high res. (1.1) .. liked filament texture of bags.
2.1 used teabags
Decided to press down to flatten slightly and used handy magazine, forgetting image/writing would show, so turned mag over to use advert with bland textured foliage, thinking body would be hidden by teabag; which it wasn't and as i liked the body slightly peeping out, I decided to keep it. Using picassa, i used various filters to alter feeling of image, so that it began to feel more intimate and protected. Decided to stay with image rather than to rush onto another and played with scale, creating image as poster of 16 A4 sheets, which emphasised texture. 2 of the sheets had hands and feet on, so focussed on these. Printed them out on photo paper ... found that printer won't print greyscale on photo paper setting, but it will if settings say matt, but use photo paper.
2.3 b+w, with filters
photo paper setting, but it will if settings say matt, but use gloss ....
2.2 teabags with magazine behind
I prefer to print using greyscale setting to keep the black uniform and blacker (not pink tinged) and to save coloured inks. Used A4 format until scanned a piece in which came out at 25%, so decided to overprint. (see print in folder)

2.4 foot
2.5 hand/foot
Find images 2.4/2.5 fascinating.... the scale and texture of the tea bags with the hands/feet .... the intamacy created with the cropping and b+w..... the concept of the throwaway/cheapness with teabags, and bodies (death, disrespect for feminine?) or intimacy/covered/protective layer/sleeping/at rest etc. I'm not sure if dots filter is necessary, but added to give sense of news/comic, repeated print/cheap throwaway.
2.6 square format

2.6 is a cropped square format of 2.5 and seems to have a more dreamlike and intimate quality, which i quite like.

Reflection.
Again a day of surprises at what has appeared. It's all seemed very time consuming between scanner, printer and laptop.... also writing blog takes ages! and although i know this is just for me, i really want/need to have photos/ layout straight/attractive and am finding photos/ text not easy to place .... also needing to get used to where photo files are uploaded/stored to, eg. dropbox and google +
Does todays work fit in with plan? It does in that i have come into my studio to work and have used found objects (teabags) and technology.
Both yesterday and today I could have used images created each day, to create more work from (which might still be the case) Both days have been very different and i never expected to be including the human form, which came about totally by accident! Both days have involved layering using found objects on the scanner to very different effect. I really did expect to have started project by making work with collage and paint and then scanned/photographed the work.....so i wonder what tomorrow will bring? ... i'm excited and curios..... It's now16.00 and i'm going to write up my tutorial notes before i forget.
