enamel spray paints.....reduced in sale ..... postcard -size.....

Just bought myself 11 cans of 400ml spray enamel in various colours for £1-99, reduced from £4-99each; mainly pastel colours, but also a deep blue and purple and three metallics, plus a vibrant red for £3-99. The cost was the main reason for buying them...something I couldn't resist as I haven't used spray or enamel paint before. I knew I needed to kick start myself into a small postcard size piece of work that I had promised to colleagues as part of a project on 'earth'. (I can't show an image yet, as part of the project is it's present secrecy!) I knew that I wanted to create something new, rather than recycle and cropping an older piece ...I just didn't know what.
I spent some time playing, spraying through paper doilies, enjoying the colour mixes and sheen/matt surfaces, then losing them, sanding back, respraying.... getting very sticky/messy in the process.....and the smell was quite overpowering (think I should have really been doing it outside....but in this weather?!!) ....also tried adding brown furniture wax to subdue some of the lighter (sugary?) colours. Returned to work several times, sanding a lot away and reapplying selectively. I learnt that there is a huge difference in my approach to work, depending upon the scale .... at first I found the limitations of the size to be frustrating but after thinking about what I was creating, I began to think about the fragility and preciousness and beauty that can be found in some small pieces .... hidden treasure. I was also reflecting on layers/layering .....something I think I will continue with.
