MA hangout, from archive to interview

I do enjoy meeting up with the others on the course ...... we are such a mixed global bunch, which makes things really interesting. We're all gradually getting used to the technology, so the discussions are becoming a bit less self conscious (speaking for myself) but a little frustrating as techy side still taking time. A lot of practical info shared about our next task, Form, Frame and Fracture and I'm both nervous and excited and very aware that I will be in my new studio so very soon (large uncarpeted bedroom painted white) and all that entails (help!). I think it may have been Duchamp that said an artist should clear out their studio at least twice in their lifetime ..... (I think he probably said 'his'). I'm really missing my 'things', living in this temporary pristine apartment ....but it is very nice. There will also be a making day on December 7th, 11-7 which scares me rather. It will be interesting to see where I am on my journey by then ..... all I know is that I won't be here!
One of the questions 'In what way do artists biographies inform or detract from the viewers experience of the work' has stayed with me.... perhaps more around the word 'biography' or personal story and how that informs an artists work rather than as an aid/detraction to the viewer. Perry touched upon this in his radio talk and last night in a group hangout I realised that 3 of us, all women, all mothers, shared a common and similar story, but at same time, a totally different and personal story.
This has led me to need to rethink my own art story, my influences from my childhood etc. As Duchamp says art is a way of 'expressing one's universal wound'......I need to pause and consider these things.

So we have our last large group crit on 16th December after which we break into smaller groups; 18th Nov. we have tutorials with Caroline and 25th Nov we have a visiting lecturer.....all sounds very interesting stuff.
Making day with Jen, Ian, Rosi, Barbara and Judith
Form,Frame, Fracture group, Rosi, Alex, Mark and Roshni.
