EP WK4 D5 (sun)

just jotting down few thougts before off to suffolk for a few days.
-there hasn't been time to exhibit groups oca postcards so taking them with me.
-i decided to try idea of star book sculpture as it seems to be a way drawing viewer into image as 3D space?
-have printed off 6 b+w copies, (6 seems to make a stable free standing form) without borders, see below to make into 'star book' and coloured tree green... thinking of making each page of 6page identical print booklet different through colouring different sections ... to give impression of alternative realities?? blue pen didn't work to well, so will try paint.... will need transparent paint or ink to allow print to show through. Folding prints in half and sticking them together to make star book will need to be done carefully and acurately.

plain paper star book

print with felt pen tree

finished star book and like the finished object ... the repetition but differentiation in colours on separate pages really makes me look at image and feel enclosed in it. ... ended up using drawing inks to fill in colour but even these went patchy on photographic paper, so decided to go with painterly effect, which contrasts with b+w print.

- have been thinking about huts as protection, safe space etc and thought of how celts drew a protective circle around themself ... therefore a circle is a symbol of protection.
- i will take sticky backed acetate sheets away with me and cut out circles ... maybe creating community within each circle???
have been influenced by klari reis, and have been following her daily petri dish postings on fb.

She fuses art and science and uses a UV resistant plastic-epoxy polymer in petri dishes, injected with brightly coloured powders, oils, acrylics, and industrial dyes.
... seems there could be a link between these and my collage below.... possibly??

didn't make circles when i was away.
