for awhile i have been looking forward to finding out more about the work of philip taaffe ..at first i really enjoyed his large work but after awhile found them to be quite oppressive.... i am relating to his simpler forms, which he achieved from marbling. i have done marbling in the past, as a craft and the effects can be quite stunning ... there is a randomness about the process but a professional marbler has lots of control ... saw some lovely book papers made by a professional last year at herefordshire open studios....is it art or is it craft ....i guess anything goes these days - i guess artists happy about that but perhaps not the craftsperson?
wondering about simple shapes below ... and translating them into layers and coloured transparent sheets. Finding all this pattern becoming too much (see previous and next post) ... i suppose it's the richter/ nicholson dilemma and i have liked both but today am leaning more towards minimalism and calm!! but then that can become boring.
